Deadwood #4
2016
48 x 36
Acrylic on canvas, stretched over a handmade cedar frame
This series started as a rumination on the creepy tree from the HBO Carnivale series, and then more or less developed into a series about the starkness of trees in the winter. This one also includes a knothole on the trunk, which is almost certainly full of all kinds of nightmares.
Also, as long as David Gray hasn’t had it removed for using his music, there’s a time lapse Youtube of me painting it in my old garage/studio, with a cameo appearance by sweet baby Goose, who I miss every day.
